Waste Gas Purification by UV-Oxidation

UV-Oxidation is a stong tool in waste gas cleaning for all compounds which can easily be oxidized, like organics (Aromatics, VOC, ...) and also inorganics (like NOx, N2O, H2S, ...).

Organics will be oxidized partial, in the UV-reactor and modified so that the hydrophilic character is increasing and a sorption of the modified compounds is possible in the scrubber water. The following treatment, if necessary, is processed in the aqueous phase again.

Inorganics often are completely oxidized in the gas phase before an effective scrubbing is possible. Treatment of the scrubber water follows after the sorption process.

Practical applications mostly show the presence of organic and inorganic contaminants at the same time.

A later modification of existing scrubber systems is also possible. This can be done by adding reactors or UV-treatment-modules. Due to that the scrubbing performance increases and at the same time a lower water consumption is accomplished, due to efficient recyling of the washing water.

UV-Light Eliminates Odour from Waste Gas

By UV-irradiation waste gas can be cleaned an odour can be reduced. Therefore the waste gas is treated in an UV-reactor with suitable UV-light. Often the end of the reactor contains a scrubbing system to filter particles or to scrub organics which are made hydrophilic by the former UV-treatment / UV-oxidation.
