- UV-Installation for the Oxidation of COD
a.c.k. realizes your unit for COD / TOC- reduction and simultaneously increases the bio-availability of the treated waste water. This we do by UV-Oxidation in combination with various oxidants under varying conditions. By irradiation of the oxidant with UV-light reactive intermediates are formed. These intermediates are reacting quickly with the COD.
In the case of Hydrogen Peroxide as oxidant the irradiation leads to a homolytic formation of OH - radicals:
H2O2 -UV-> 2 OH*
OH - Radicals are reacting very fast with any organics by hydrogen abstraction. Mineral products like Water, Sulphate, etcetera are the final products.
Lamps and reactors, for this process, need to have a special design, as otherwise the reaction will go into inhibition very fast. The Enviolet - Reactors are specially designed for highest efficiency in strongly absorbing aqueous solutions.
The reaction is processed so long until the UV-oxidation is finished and the next process steps can follow to complete the whole advanced oxidation process (AOP).
